i can help you but from memory the display one they had at the LR Expo in sydney had the same problem
Help,
the bonnet on my 07 defender will not open. it appears as the cable has come loose at the bonnet end. i placed a call to landrover assist and they sent out local racv. no luck. i am supposed to be going off 4wd tomorrow for a week. any ideas or help appreciated

Mine did that. You need a hook to catch the lever. For your trip once it's open fashion some wire to pull on to open it.
The lever is on the left of the catch maybe 2 cm and just below the top of the metal fasia. I used a bent screw driver. Takes a few goes. Any mechanic should be able to do it quite easily.
If it still has the wing vent, try removing that and see if you can reach anything from that point.
Is the cable moving at all?

If mine gets dirty enough it simply wont open and appears to have broken cable but a good squirt of crc and it works a treat i keep it lubed well now and don't have an issue

I managed to get it open. had to do it from underneath the car with a long screwdriver pushed up in between radiator and inter cooler. The front of the 07 defender where the catch is different than the td5. The cable is too open the bonnet is a 2 part. I have connected a piece of wire direct to the catch, will probably leave it there. Thanks to all who replied, and thanks to Peter from MLR service
