    ERR7146BRG Bearing.

    G'Day All,

Does anyone know the SKF bearing number for the timing case, the one that the fan runs on?
    Cheers

Probably help if you said which engine you are talking about.

In my experience SKF have a crossreference for Landrover part numbers, so this may help if you have the Landrover part number. Have you tried SKF?

Also, they can usually help if you take the old bearing in (this may not be practical!).

    Good point, that man.

It's the 300TDI timing cover - the bearing that the fan runs on.
    Hope someone can help.

The bearings were made by INA.

British Four Wheel Drives (or similar name), who advertise in the banner section at the top of this forum, sell these bearings. The banner adds cycle through the various advertisers - just wait until your see the British 4WD one appear.

Most places will tell you that you have to replace the timing cover.

This has been discussed in several threads on this forum.

ACE, the fan has a viscous coupling where it attaches to the pulley. The bearing in question is what attaches the pulley to the timing cover.

If the bearing is a little noisy, you can carefully prise the seal from the inside of the bearing, give the bearing a flush with wd40 (or similar) then some fresh grease, before replacing the seal. This will buy you some time if the bearing has not failed to far.

Drill and tap the front cover and put a grease nipple on it....

    Easy....

But when you change the bearing, heat the cover up to 100deg C 1st so when you press the old one out and the new one in you dont take alloy with the old bearing.. if you do the cover is shot...

Ive got a good front cover.... and the bearing is ok.. perfect for a grease nipple job..
