    auto flexi plate

is it normal to have a bit of play between plate and the centre piece where the bolts go?

Can you expand a bit more this subject?
Are you talking about the Torque converter & the flexplate with ring gear
or you bolting the flex plate up to the crank

So long as the bolt holes are not "Reamed" from being loose and are a good fit to the bolts then all should be OK
However if you "start" all the bolts and its sloppy then you should be wary

    HOWEVER
If you are replacing a new for old, and they have different hole diameters, then i would suggest that you have the wrong part / Take it back

If when bolted it has play then it is broken.
If the bolts are smaller than the holes then either the bolts or the plate are wrong. Hope this helps.
