It should just bolt to the winch bar with the lower bolts passing through the fairlead. The tounge is mount the control box.
I just recently bought a winch for my 93 Disco.Having already got an ARB bar on there i thought it would just bolt straight on there. This is my very first winch so i am learning the ins and outs of installing it and how to use it.It is pretty much simple enough to wire it up but my main question is how do i mount it? Do i need to have something else to mount it on the bar? Just by looking at it i cant see where it would bolt down to.Hope someone can give me a bit more insight into it.I would really like to get it going
Cheers
Chris
first pic is of the bar
second is of the winch
third is where it is supposed to be mounted

I stuck mine (ox 10,000lb) to my ARB bar/'91 Disco a few years back and didn't have any dramas. I took the bar off the vehicle and mounted the winch to it then fitted the lot to the chassis. It was a bit heavy to lift but it allowed me to line every thing up and take my time rather than struggling with ita foot or so in the air.
If all else fails, give the blokes/ARB a call and they'll walk you though it. No shame in asking for help - it's not the sort of thing you want to fail when you need it most.
Youre winch will bolt in mounting feet vertical using those 4 bolt holes either side of the rectangular opening, read the instructions for youre winch as you may need to remove and rotate the gearbox end so that the clutch lever is accessible from the top.- edit, i just had a look at the pic of the winch, you will need to rotate the gearbox counter clockwise so the the lever is horizontal and the mounting feet are vertical.

remove the number plate (if its center mounted like mine) and it should reveal some partially punched plates smack those out and then it should just drop in and bolt up.

Thanks heaps for the response guys.I will have a look at it tomorrow.I guess i just wanted to be 100 percent sure before i fitted it.

Don't know about your particular winch, but I have fitted some warn low mounts over the years.
They are heavy and awkward to lift into place and bolt up on your own. The mounting screws can be difficult to start in the square nuts without cross threading, because of the angle at the rear of the pocket where the nuts fit.
I pull the rope off to reduce weight and make hand access to the mounting nuts easier.
Then I get some other bolts that fit the nuts, cut the heads off to make them into studs and screw them into the nuts.
Check where the cables attach to the motor - 3 heavy cables to control unit, heavy earth (I like to connect this to the battery -ve) and light earth to control unit. Make sure you can connect the cables when the winch is in place - some (earth mainly) may have to be connected before you fit the winch.
With the studs in place the winch can be fed up behind the bar, into position. Then it is relatively easy to hold the winch in place and replace the studs with the mounting bolts one at a time.
STOP
Does your car have airbags ? , if it does do not bolt the winch to the bar ,as it should be bolted to a cradle that sits between the chassis
If it doesnt have airbags sorry to alarm you and go ahead and bolt it up to the the bar![]()
