So it's not just me then?? I ended up ordering my LR from an non-perth dealer due to my experencies with the dealers in Perth.

Funny thing is Toyota produced one of the best set of factory diff locks and no-one seemed to add them to their specification. They still use the "knob of invincibility" in that video to switch the lockers as they even had in the 80 series:D

no i can buy that, the lockers were an option that could be factory fitted if you wanted them (back in the day when they first started doing it Im not sure about the latest ones) and the series and the counties were still all over them even with the lockers.
What I want to see is a comparison of the same 2 with someone who actually knows what they are doing at the wheel of the deefer.
See I think that is the critical point full stop. A lot of people play off the fact that "I'm experienced, I know what I'm doing, I'm wonderful and the vehicle's systems just get in my way". Isn't all about learning how the vehicle works (including its systems)?
IMO there is no set technique to drive a particular terrain. If I used the same technique to drive my auto Disco down a 45deg gradient as I would in the IIA, I'd probably kill myself.
