I have the same set-up, petrol/gas on my partners disco as you have and I would add around 5-7 litres per hundred on top of your normal economy as mine seems to be around that figure.Hills,stop-start etc tend to raise it abit. Pat
Hello to everyone,
I have been reading this forum for quite sometime and found it to be a great help whilst we were having the motor of our car rebuilt, so thanks to everyone.
The question I have is that now our motor has been rebuilt and we are going up north towing a 1.7t caravan what would be a fair Litre per 100ks to expect? the car has the standard 80litre petrol tank along with a 50litre LPG tank. I know that LPG doesn't help in savings much on a long trip but for around town it has been great.
Thanks
Andrea

Hi Andera,
I also have the same set up but have 80 litres of gas and tow a 2.5T van.
Normal driving I get about 300kl out for a tank of gas and closer to 400 out of petrol. Towing I get 200-250 from gas all going well. Windy conditions sometimes lucky to make 200kl. Petrol can be a bit better but not by much.
I know people say power is less on gas but i do not notice any power difference between the two.
Peter.
Hi there Peter,
Thanks for the info, just another query what would you get out of a full 80lt tank of petrol towing the van? Our van is about 2t.
Andrea
Thanks very much for the info Ron it is very much appreciated we are heading off on a 4 month trip up north and I'm trying to get some understanding of what I can expect in Litres per 100ks.
Thanks once again
Andrea
We did our Long service leave trip up North year b4 last with a County on gas. I would say 25-30 litres per 100klm will cover most possibilities. You will definately make good savings wherever you go & gas was never hard to find - but I'm talking within 200klm of the coast. Also 80 litres will hardly see you needing petrol.
The wind will make a heck of a difference, especially if you can get it coming up from behind, even with a poptop.
Regards,
David
