    Shortening front shock towers

I think my front koni's are now too short for my spring lift, now i have a spare pair of shock towers that i can cut down. If my lift is 2" should i cut them down by 2" or just 1" ? I dont think they will bottom out at all but may get their guts pulled out on big down travel.

This'll start a cycle of modifications.

The shocks will top out then, so you'll need to extend the bump stops. And you won't get 2" extra droop without freeing up the radius arm bushes.

Why do you think they're too short? Not knowing what's changed, I'd say nonetheless that you have exactly the same wheel travel as before. It's only your static ride height that's changed.

If you want give it an extra 2" downtravel, that needs longer shocks, and that needs extended towers, not shortened. And so it goes on..

Doing the kinder dropoff this morning as i was going over a large square speed hump i could hear and feel a clunking noise, when lowering the axle down to fit the springs down to i ran out of shock travel before i could slide the springs in so i believe they are bottoming out already. Springs are firm so i dont believe they will top out easily - ideally longer front shocks is the go but hey arent in the budget just yet, the missus would have my balls .

im just about to do the same thing, the aftermarket shock turrets are 2in lower but $150 each so a day in the shed will save me abit, i have been told (Ken) NOT to do this because you just can not justify back yard mods to buying quality products. and i am about to go buy some rear lower shock mounts for more flex, just need to take the rear sway bar out..

    You lot are bodgy asses!

As Tusker has already said, you need to extend the turret and run longer shocks, and then you'll get full travel out of your springs.

If you lower the turret then you also need to extend the bumpstops by the same amount and then its all just crap. Doing this is a cheap ass pommy offroading mod.
    Cheers
