New Head Gasket
Well my old girl finally looks like she has blown the head gasket.I done the monthly check over this morning and there was bubbles in the header tank. The oil isn't contaminated and the coolant level hasn't change for months and there doesn't seem to be excess pressure in the system but the bubbles are there plain to see.I am going to use LR parts or is there better after market gaskets to use?.Any hints would be nice. What engine are you asking about??
You dont have to use genuine, OEM is fine....depending on the engine there are some types I would stay away from.

Pat, don't panic just yet.
How big are the bubbles ?
I had what I a thought was a blown head gasket 18 months to two years ago, a small stream of bubbles in the header.
I panicked, but there were no other symptoms, so borrowed a mates combustion gas detection kit. I must have used that kit five or six times over the next week, and each test was negative, so I put the cap back on and stopped worrying.

Rick I know what your saying,I just squeezed the top hose and gave her a good rev and there was no pressure at all.Now that I have stopped panicking and thinking straight there is what looks like coolant circulating but there is no pressure in the tank.Might be a bit premature. Pat
