Will a Defender roof rack fit a Disco?

I know a D1 and D2 have different width roofs but I believe they are the same height but how do the compare to a series or Defender? Without having one to measure my gut feeling would be that they would be similar to a D1 in size.
The reason for the question is that I noticed a series roof rack on the coast for a good price and I was hoping it could be adjusted to fit a D1
    thanks rob

hey if your good enough with the metal manglers and glue sticks you can make any landrover part fit any other landrover you like....

however if your hoping for a full length framed rack your pretty much out of luck.

But if its got the universal slide adjust gutter grips on the bottom to clamp it onto the gutters you can be in luck if you can get the legs to drop down enough (unless its got a lot of clearance underneath the rack already)

If it's any help my Disco roof rack fits on the Defender, with a slight adjustment to the width.

There is less clearance betweent the rack and roof on the Defender so I suppose it would be fine going the other way.

doesnt the fender roof taper at the front ? otherwise unless it has high legs it wont clear the roof hump and being off a series it wont be an ARB or similar with adjustable legs. You can always cut /grind re weld it to the shape of the disco. I got an old rusty rack that must have been of a landlooser of some king as it was bloody huge but i cut it down to a 1/2 and 3/4 rack with new legs.

Thanks all. I am looking at cheaped options to the disco roof racks on the market. l think I will start looking at making or modifying my own. I cannot justify a roof rack that costs as much as a trailer

    height
The D1 and D2 roofs are the same width. When I worked for the importer of Baja racks I got Baja in USA to agree to make a common rack for the two, although I think that never happened.
The only problem between D1 and D2 are the roof rails and the D2 roof is longer.
I have not measured a Defender roof but the depth from gutter to roof top is much deeper on a Defender. The Defender racks were our biggest headache as they were fully welded and the inland freight was enormous.
