Thanks to everyone for all the tips & tricks for our big snow holiday, I've made a list of things to do before we go. Now we have to decide whether to take the Disco or the Fender :o decisions, decisions.....
It's only a month away and I'm getting pretty excited. I've never been snow skiing, and am looking forward to trying cross-country and downhill. Not to mention horse riding in the snow and a bit of exploring in the LR.
If you are going ski-ing and are renting boots - take special attention to getting boots that fit properly - take your time at the hire place - badly fitting boots can change a pleasant experience into a 'kin nightmare.Quote:

If you want to hire a ski instructor (downhill only - I am too old for cross country) we could negotiate a reasonable fee;)

With down hill you have a choice of how you brake your limbs, snow boarding or skiing.
In all 3 cases, ask at the servo that you fill up with AD which is the best local ski hire because there are fitters and then there are fitters.
I ran a ski hire for a couple of years and I have worked with some cowboys and Ive seen what other managers expect from their fitters and pretty much a lot of things that they do I would have fired people for.
Keep in mind that most peoples feet swell when they get hot so you want to have some adjustment and if there are any spots that feel like it will put pressure on a point then try to adjust it out.
Also make sure that they dont set your skis too loose as it can make it bloody hard to get the hang of it if every time you try to snow plow the ski's come off.
Sorry cant give you any tips for snow boarding other than they are for people who are too slack to learn how to ski :wasntme:

I don't know if true or not but I've heard handbrakes can lock up if overnight in snow country?
