Thanks for the suggestion. I remember that trick, it's a ripper. Many a cold frosty morning up in the mountains trail bike riding that was the only way I could get my Bultaco started for the day.

I had forgotten that trick.....and just this morning I went out and bought a new set of plugs. It starts now, but the problem is still there. Currently it is in its mild form, that is just a bit rich, and quite driveable. The nearest mechanic is in Canberra, about 250 k's away, so I will carry another spark plug change.....

I have hot-wired the ignition to the battery, but still no better. Everything else seems to check out okay.

Cheers everyone, and thanks again for all the help. I hate to give in, but even with all the help I still don't really know what the trouble is. Of course if there are any new ideas, that would be great!
