    200 Tdi Alternator Upgrade

I posted this on the General Chat and got little response but I am an optimist and believe the Techo-heads may hold the answer.

I was thinking of upgrading the standard 65 amp alternator to a 100 amp unit.

I have heard of a number of options and was wondering if anyone could offer some advice on these.

I was told that a Ford Transit 100 amp unit will bolt on as will a Magnetti.

Any information would be much appreciated

    Hi Chenz,
I replaced the troublesome Marelli on my old 200 with Bosch unit from an XF Falcon. The adaptor bracket was dead simple to make and I had the unit checked and bumped up to 80 amps, plus, for some reason a lot of them have a star point already fitted (to run your tacho). Job completed for under $100. I think you can get more than 80 amps out of these Bosch units but don't quote me on that.
    Cheers,
    Anthony.
