    Yes - but try pedalling a URT bike (like phil posted), then get on a horst link bike and compare... The difference almost feels like you have a motor.

    Radius arms over constrain the axle movement. They bind as soon as you run out of flex in the bushes.

    If you were to put spherical bushes in the radius arms then articulation would be severely limited - much, much worse than stock.

    If you look closely at the lower link in the Safari Gard 3 link pic, you can see the diameter steps up toward the rear. There is a joint there, that allows the front part of the link to rotate inside the rear part.

    Over-engineering, there's no such thing.
    It is much more difficult and time consuming to come up with a simple solution than a complicated one.
