    3.5 to 4.0 Do I need a new sump?

I am guessing I already know the answer to this question.

I am swapping out a tired old 3.5 to a revitalized 4.0. I have noted the on the 3.5 the dip stick goes in through the block, just near the engine number stamp.

On the 4.0 there is no provision for this, so do I need to get my hands on a sump pan from a 4.0/4.6 where I am guessing the dip stick goes straight into the sump?

Maybe other later 3.5 and 3.9 had the same dipstick into sump set up and it might wider the chances of getting a different sump cheaply.

    Thanks in advance,

    JayK

    G`day Jkay ,

Have another look below the engine number , probably the tube has been removed but there will be a hole for it there .

I have a 98 build 4.0 and a 2003 build 4.0 and both have the dipstick in the usual place .

The later one in our 85 RR has all the 85 bits including the 85 sump .

    Cheers

    Peter
