sounds more like a fuel filter to me i would replace that first how low was your tank before you filled up when you remove the fuel filter wipe the top and see if you can suck air through it that will tell you if it is blocked

By the way my pump went at 140k so you have done well.
You can test them using a pressure gauge fitted in place of the fuel temp sender...

4bar is what your looking for!

Thanks for everyone getting back to me ..

After posting this and glaring at it from my window, I took it for a drive, and its now cleared and working fine.

I am GUESSING that it was bad fuel / something in the filter / limited fuel getting to the engine, thus starving it at higher revs.

So, at the moment, I am going to do a full filter swap at the end of this tank of diesel, and then see how it goes!

Thanks .. a Huge thanks to all who put in there 10c !!! Makes me all warm knowing I got backup!

Is the engine surging above a certain engine speed and goes back to normal once you back off?

If so the same thing happened to my Td5. Just had the MR Automotive ECU and exhaust upgrade so was a bit nervous when this started. Mine was playing up around 3000 RPM but was unnoticeable up till then. Took the car in and it seems that a small breather hose had come off the solid pipe feeding the turbo from the intercooler. Put this back on and it revs clean up to 5000+ RPM no worries.

    Hope this helps.

    Im with Cooter
Chuck a new fuel filter in and cross fingers AND EVERYTHING ELSE!!!!
You may have copped a batch of poo fuel thats blocked the filter.
Common as on farm gear with on farm fuel storage.
Filter replacement is the cheapest fix!!!!
    GOODLUCK

And here we see an example of why I have <150 posts

Sometimes I really think I'm wasting my time and effort on this forum..

"I have a book on blah blah blah theory... That can't be right... It cant work... Blah Blah... Blah......"

"Maybe if we do this... blah blah blah"

    ZZZZZZZZZZZZZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

    Less theory, More experience.....

Less sarcasm wouldnt hurt either... At least in the tech section.

    Itttttssss back!

Ok so the power lose it back, so I am thinking the pump IS on its way out and its just having good / bad days.

Still got over 1/2 a tank of diesel ($6034 worth these days) so I am going to run it down to the light (if she will let me) and then do the filter change, then put in 10ltrs and see if it helps.

    Then the pump

    Sigh!
