58000 is a very low amount of kms for a 300tdi. It would have to have been sitting for extednded periods of time and probably has very light work.
I bought my Defender from a friend who had been told that he was fixing and replacing things that he wouldn't be fixing if he used it more regularly. it had done 114000km in 8 years but had been parked up for long periods and did the kays in big chunks.
Is there a point where "low kms" becomes a negative rather than a positive?
Sorry that you are cross with your car but it sounds to me like if you start using it and get the admittedly annoying and sometimes expensive work done it will blossum.

In October 2009 I took the TDi 300 for an extended drive up through the gulf. I'd loaded it to the gunnels with stuff and the oil consumption has dropped to about 200ml between changes. The vehicle will be up for sale shortly but its now got 78,000 k on it and is only 14 years old. :eek:
I've got a wee problem at the moment with the waste gate stuck open but apart from that its still going well.
I've just brought a 2008 Nissan Navara and whilst the Defender has some brilliant off road capabilities I no longer need the extreme capability. If it had been a station wagon i might have even kept it.
The Navara scores the following;
Body and interior, 8/10
Engine n transmission 7/10
Suspension 3/10
Load Carrying capacity 4/10
On a 400k lap of hidden valley the other day i discovered just how brilliant the suspension in the Defender is. With a $1000 worth of Bilstiens and the Tough Dog coils it handles the rough stuff like a motor cross bike.
