    Should I keep my 2000 td5 series 2?

My wife and I have owned a Landrover Series 2 TD5 since new(2000). It has never been off road, and apart from a few annoying problems, has been a good car. It has 150,000 kms on the clock and we were considering an upgrade to a new vehicle, before we get any really expensive repair bills. My question is this - if we keep the car, are there any major engine rebuild expenses expected as a common occurence, or will this vehicle maintain its current reliability, given regular servicing through the 200,000 / 300,000 km mark. I would appreciate any advice with regard to this.
    Thank you

The biggest problem with cars is they just aren't worth much second hand. All car prices die after 3-4 years and I look at it this way,My disco might slip a liner costing me 5grand for a new engine but that is nothing compared to the 30grand I'll loose on a new one after 12 months.I will keep both my cars and repair them as I go.Either way unfortunately we loose. I bought my 99 D2 TD5 for $14990,it had 198000ks,now 233000ks.Cheap motoring for 4 years!!!!!
Yep had a few issues, but nothing huge.
Seen one the other day advertised for $12990
They are great vehicles, run it till it needs a BIG repair, then buy something new.If you are shrewd you will be able to part out the D2 for bigger $$$ than its worth as a trade at the moment!!!!
    Worth thinking about.

    Seams to be 2 chances.
TD5 owners either have a dream run with a beautiful engine or a horror story. The TD5 is a magic beast when running and just needs regular care to last a long time. If you cook it and do the head then yes it can bite you big time and cost $3500 to $5000. You should also look at the cost of a new car also as $5,000 for a replacement engine or major rebuild is not that bad.
When I rebuilt mine at around the 140,000km mark the bottom end was still like new.
