    OIl leak rear left hub???

I have just done my brakes fitted new disc rotors and pads and a new ABS sensor on the Right rear. The left rear was a bit oily so left pads in and just replaced the disc rotor. Gave it all a good clean up and will check how bad the leak is to morrow.

Does this mean my hub is shot or is it a axel tube seal. What is involved with changing axel tube seal ( I will pick the cheap option first ).

    Any help greatly appreciated .

Sounds like a hub seal. What are you driving?

If it's a hub seal there are lots and lots of threads telling you what to do, and with pic's, too.

    Cheers

    Try again,reply lost in Cyberspace!!!
    Hi Mike
Check the diff breather and tube first!!!
If they are blocked,VERY COMMON IN ALL 4WDs,the pressure will force diff oil out of the weakest point.
MUCH CHEAPER than a new oil seal/bearing and what ever else rears its head whilst you are in there!!!!
    GOODLUCK

    Thanks guys

OOPsy didnt say what vehicle it is im driving a disco 2 2002 model . Yes Landy Andy I will check the breather 1st thing to morrow you may be right there.

The rear diff got a bit of h2o in there last year doing a deep crossing of Lake Barely ( yukky SAlty Stuff) . It took 2 flushes to clear it and it may have blocked the breather.

I will let you know how it goes.

If I have to replace a seal I gather there is plenty of info how to do it in here somewhere.

Any ideas how long as in K's those pre packed hub bearings last , Im up to 130,000 ks now.

    Thanks Mike

    all clear

The breather is clear. I will do a search on hub seals to find out how to go about it.

Is there a aftermarket workshop manual for the Disco 2.
