    Upgrading from 02 TD5 to the 2004 TD5

Considering upgrading from my 02 model to a new 04 model for a few reasons:

    1. Better looking - I like the lights on the new D2s
    2. Will try to get leather
    3. More fruit
    4. CDL fitted standard
    5. Want a sahara bar to be fitted up

My current 02 D2 has normal non air suspension - I like it. I have read that the airbagged D2s can cause trouble - is that common or uncommon?

I also have a long range tank fitted to my 02. Will it be hard to have that removed and fitted to the new 04 model? I also have a further 2 auxilllary tanks under the drivers and passengers compartments - will they be difficult to remove and out on the new 04 model D2?

Overall does the 04 model go a lot better than the 02 model?

    my 2 cents

For the small cost of replacement airbags (every TEN years or so)
why on earth would you want coils??

Its the same engine/T-case/box combo,, so performance would be similar,,
that said,, the tanks should also transfer,,

    i went from 01 7seat to 04 5seat both bought new.

you wont notice the claimed increase in torque....mine is the classic came with leather &reverse sensors which are handy & a few other extras.
the headlights...they are much better.the 04 also seemed quieter & smoother.

what i do notice is the front points downwards when empty..the other with air suspension stayed level

those extra tanks should bolt onto an 04 model

the leather on the drivers seat on mine is starting to crack,i do rub that leather cleaner carer stuff into it regularly.

    the cdl is also handy

my 04 is the best of the three i have owned by miles....hardly a problem...could be because it was last of model run..in fact so good i took out the extended warranty & hope to keep it at least another few years

no ace no air suspension...less to go wrong

    thats my 2cents worth

ooh...i kept the 16 inch rims..didnt want those 18's..there not much good in the sand or off road....but they do look good

    cheers

I have an 02. Have had the transfer changed so now have a cdl. Also had the chip re done so now has much better performance. With 200k on the old girl now I don't think I'll get much for her so will just keep her going till she dies.
I know a few who have changed the sls to coils and been happy with the results and lack of problems.
    There...thats my 2 cents too

did you notice much difference with the cdl now fitted.i think it changes the tc mapping & lets more wheelspin before the tc comes in if cdl is in.if you leave cdl off tc seems to come in much earlier like it is more sensitive.

have tried to find out more about this but cant get any answers

someone on this forum may know

yours may be different as yours was not factory fitted

    cheers
