How worn is buggered? ZF output shaft.

Got a second hand HP22 (?) auto and the output shaft has suffered from lack of lube on the transfer case end.

Without measuring, it looks like less than 0.5mm lost. So not as bad as some I've seen. I know there's an awful lot of these getting around in a lot worse condition than this one!

The car will tow no more than 1.5 tonnes and isn't a racing car or offroad weapon.

    Questions:

    * Is it bad enough to need changing?

    * How hard is it to change the output shaft?

    Thanks for the help!

The part that usualy wears on the ZF is infact an adapter and is easy the replace, cost is around $150 for a new one.

It looks like this: Ashcroft Transmissions
