Strangely enough, some were not fitted with a heater tap.
But if you have one - the easiest way to find it is to locate the two hoses as they go through the firewall (under the bonnet) and then follow them back towards the engine.
When I had my D1 - I spent an hour looking, and looking - only just to find my model wasn't fitted with a heater tap.
Your may just be the same.
If it doesn't have a tap, and its not getting warm/hot - either the controling flaps on the heater box are not functioning correctly - or you may have a blockage or an air lock in the heater coil.
To find out if you have a blockage or air lock get the engine up to normal temp, with the engine running again trace the heater hoses from the firewall - both should be hot at the firewall - if they are - tend to suggest you flaps are faulty - if one is or both are not then - air lock or blockage is likely.
Flush out the heater till a nice clean flow of water, then connect one hose and whilst holding the other hose as high as you can, and with the open end (where the hose fits onto) capped off, slowly top up with water through this hose till its spilling out the top, then (clamp it is better) hold you thumb over it to reduce the water loss and try and connect it up without loosing all the water you have just put in. as I say if you can clamp it off ,
This should solve the air lock
If its the flaps you will have to check the operation and cables under the dash
