    3" spring lift for a disco 1

what possibile problems would a 3" spring lift cause and firstly is is possible at all? obviously need to change caster bushes with off set one, extend sway bar brackets a far bit.

is there anyone out there with a 3" spring lift?

It'll cause more issues than it will gain in performance.

Why do you want a 3" lift?

1- Pulled the number out of the air?
2- Mates got 2, I want mine taller?
3- I have a specific tyre size I want to run... (If so what size?)
4- It's a 'Mines Bigger than yours' thing...

Answer why your looking at 3" and we'll feed back better...

I lifted my disco about 3" and with the springs that I used it performs well off road and pretty reasonable on road with just the rear swaybar.

I don't have any problems with vibration and the steering has no tendency to wander or otherwise misbehave (but the tru-trac in the front may be responsible for that).

I used Kings springs for front, standard height, landcruiser 80/100 series, in the comfort style (softer than normal style). By using springs for different year models, I was able to have longer springs in the rear.

In the disco KTFS94C were used in the front and KTFS69C in the rear. $180 each pair.

The bottom spring seat had to be reversed to suit the cruiser springs.

Depends if you need more room for larger tyres.

The spring lift does not affect how much room is in the wheel arch when the axle housing hits the bump stop.

When I got my disco I it had some heavier than stock springs, but was not much higher than stock. I removed wheels with cooper S/T's and fitted a set with 33x10.5 x 15" bfg muddies that I had laying around.

The wheel arches had to be trimmed a bit to prevent the tyres rubbing off road.

The more usual width with 33's would probably have needed flare and much more trimming.

The main advantage I get from the springs I am using now is a more supple ride, good articulation, better approach and departure clearance in the rough stuff. It works really nice.

Simon, sorry I haven't seen any rates published.

    The free lengths are:
    KTFS69C 490mm
    KTFS94C 470mm

The wire dia is 16mm (17mm for the KTFS69 and KTFS94).
