    Hi Clean,

    I believe a set of detailed notes (with photos) I wrote on optimising the settings of the Tdi injector pumps is available somewhere on this website. (Strangely enough, I've never felt the need to find and download them...).

    I'm sure another respondent will be able to tell you how to find them. I think the notes would answer most of your questions.

    What would make the belt loose?

    Which begs the question who fitted it last time?

    hi MinniTheMoocha;

    whilst I'm not sure what causes a Timing belt to find it's way loose ,John ( next door mechanic ) who fitted the timing belt "said" he had torqued up the tensioner according to the specs on Haynes Manual , also Note !!!! vehicle had been driven without any issues Post Fitment of the Timing Belt for a quite while and only just recently I had noticed a slight loss of power,,, obvioulsy on fitment things were torqued up enough & somehow the tensioner found it'sway loose , wheather this is a common thing????
    can't answer that?

    Is the Haynes manual up to date with the latest torqueing techniques as per L/R updates?

    Would love to know if bolts came loose, belt stretched etc.

    Thanks

    The Prognosis is ;

    The Mechanic checked injection pump timing and there was excessive play between Crank & Injection Pump ,

    also as said earlier , Timing Cover removed and Loose timing belt retensioned , set pump timing , and readjusted Boost compensator as required, plunger limiting spacer was also missing, refitted, Dyno Graph definitely shows improvement.

    Interesting,lots of replies on things that it wasn;t.
    My idea would have been to actually backtrack what you did. You replaced the timing belt, i guess it was going fine beforehand. So it seems obvious thats what the problem was,

    my thoughts on the prob.

    John, the car was going fine for a while post fitament , then started to slowly get more and more sluggish..The Dyno figures showed less than 45kw at wheels , and that was the vehicle running rich as i had noticed fuel consumtion had gone up a fair bit. Once tuned 49.8kw isn't too bad for 300tdi Disco at the wheels.

    all in all I'm really happy with the way it drives now , next thing on list is Diesel-Gas
