Red face Where does the water GO

Late last month I had a new Radiator Core installed in my D2TD5 as the lower lower corners where perishing. So many $ later all was cool again. However a few days later I noticed the expansion Tank had lost water, but when the cap was removed a fair % of water came back in.Howevertook it back and they found that one of the hoses was a little loose.Ok all fine, but not so, water still seems to be escaping some how and when having it serviced yesterday no one could spot where there was any evidence of water leaking.I did have the system pressure tested and all was fine.I checked it this morning and its where it should be.
Please can any one help me.
    Thoughts I had was
    1/Evapouration
    2/Head gasket (God Forbid)
3/Small hose leak, but I thought would have shown in pressure test.
Please Help, Id hate to cook the motor,
    Dave Kemp

Head sounds like the most likely culprit to me. can't be evaporation because it's a sealed and pressureised system.

Could be a minor leak, but a pressure test would have shown it surely, as well as evidence of the leaked fluid.

The level should only rise when you remove the cap, when the motor is hot.

as baz says if you take off the cap you release the pressure which allows things to contract pushing the water back into the tank. thats why most tanks you fill when cold. mine probably drops an inch or 2 when hot but in the morning its back up to the line that it should be... this is why motors have 'expansion' tanks

if yours is doing this... its all good.. if its not.. well further investigation.. or get a td5 engine saver alarm (see LandyAndys thread) just for a bit of peice of mind!

    Thanks

It could be that there were some air spaces left in the radiator, which were displaced with water as the system went through a few heat-cool cycles. It's common to top up again a few days later (especially if the heater is on, or the plugs haven't been removed).

They may make great radiators,, but can they follow LR instructions ?

Buy the RAVE CD and follow the instructions for draining and refilling the system,,
