Specs on Hydraulic Lifters 3.9 engine.

    Hi Guys,
A question that really need to be cleared up if it's at all possible.
It has been suggested that Range Rover Lifters in the 3.9 are the same as the Holden 308 lifters and in some catalogues, have the exact same part number.
Well we all know what rhumors and un founded statements can cause so I put this question to those who can truthfully answer this with qualification.
Are Range Rover Lifters the same as Holden 308 Lifters or any other Holden Lifter for that matter. It's really important so if you can answer this, please clear it up, there are too many opinions that are possibly unfounded.

    Technically,
    Shirley.......

No they`re not exactly the same but if fitted correctly can be used in place of .

I won`t go into specifics other than the rover ones have a lower leakdown pressure .

Old straight six uses the same as 308 as do many chevs , ect if the dimentions , ect are correct they don`t know what they`re in .

I`ve worn out a set of holden type in a 3.5ltr and the 4.0ltr crossbolt in our 85 has holden type which were fitted after the 4.0ltr came out of the crate because it was brand new .

In neither engine have the lifters been any problem at all .

I have a couple of other engines which will also get holden type but the preload will be set and the ball ends checked .

    Cheers
    Peter
