I still have the metallic paint (ie premium synthetic ATF) in bottles in my garage as evidence. Ooooh, here it is!

If ATF is all wrong why has my box done 398+K with never a spanner put on it?. Pat
my front diff oil looks like that after the required service interval, and thats using the right oil!
mtf94 was designed specifically for landrover in conjunction with chevron.
there is NO exact replacement for it. so if you cant get it any more what do ya do??
i think i'll stick with the atf, ive used it b4 in t5's and many gearbox shops use it frequently for the newer 5and 6 speeds for both road and race applications.
cheers phil
ps, its my choice.
Depends how it's being used... Maybe you're using it in exactly the same way it was tested.
Most of the guys with Camels used to get through gear boxes on a regular basis (most Camels are carrying >800Kg of kit). Since moving to MTF, I've not heard of any problems (I'm trying to rack my brains but seriously I can't think of anyone, in the past few years, that has had problems with their gearbox!)

My defender has worked as hard at times as any vehicle could, saying that I am switching this weekend to oil but if there is any problems,I'll give it a good run ATF will go straight back in.Just lastly Rumbles have a 91 disco,550k on the clock, original box and run since new on ATF.That will do me. Pat
Im going to chuck this in in a few weeks time to see the results. Ill send an oil sample away for testing 10k into its life and see what its like.
