Diff fluid - which one?
Hi,
I have done Maxi Drives on mt Defender '94. went for teh option of removing oil seals and getting the Maxi drive flanges as well.
Which is the best Diff fluid to use?
I bought Castrol Manual EPX 80W90 but have not yet used it?
When refitting my Maxi's with oversize County CV's someone told me I should not use the graphite grease to grease the spider because the diff oil can react badly with it and form lumps. Is this correct?
Then, where would I get Brake Disc Lubricant (Busy redoing my brake calipers)
Lastly, for shocks does one only use rubber grease on top mounting or top and bottom?
Thanks

Has anybody have a view on this? I'd like to get the right stuff before the weekend.

EPX 80W-90 Castrol is fine.
Not really such a thing as 'Best', as everyone's definition is different. 'Best' protection, 'best' value, 'best' compromise, etc.
If you do a search you will find multiple threads on driveline fluids, diff oils, etc.
Don't use a graphite grease, if you are going to use grease at all use a Molybdenum diSilphide fortified Lithium Complex (MoS2 or moly) NLGI 2 grease and fill the swivels with oil.
Most people just use an EP 80W-90, 80W-140, etc oil.
You can also use Land Rover 'One Shot' which is a 3% moly NLGI 00 grease. This tends not to leak as easily from the swivels as straight oil.
Caliper compound, brake rubber lube, etc is available from most spare parts stores or brake suppliers.
I've never used rubber grease on shockie rubbers.
