    Sals in Disco???

Anyone put a Salsbury into a disco before, is the Defender rear setup the same, can it be swapped over?

It should swap over fairly easily. tail shaft would be different, but other than that everything else should fit.

    its easy...
    change the brake lines
cut some inches out of the prop shaft.

    jobs done

just make sure you get it in the right width (theres 3 different widths of sals) ratio (4.7:1 (only available in sereis size) or 3.54:1 (available in drum and disk)) and your laughing

I'm doing it but it looks like the chassis mount (for the A-frame) is different from a '96 fender to a '91 disco. I haven't put spanner to bolt yet but it looks that way from the diff i've got. Just make sure you get all the bits...

    And chrrrrrrrist it's heavy!

    Piece of cake.

I have one in my RRC, everything is the same except the tailshaft length, I recall about 75 odd mm had to be cut out, but I'm running an LT95, so you need to measure to be sure.

Yes it DOES drag a bit, but the added peace of mind about breaking it is worth it, when you are running 33" tyres.
The only other thing as mentioned is that they are heavy. Unsprung weight needs to be controlled so ensure your shocks are up to it!
I would do it again for sure.

The A-Frame connection to the disco axle (in some it seems) is different to the County/Defender sals axle. I bought a diso axle a couple of months ago for a trailer project and the a-frame seemed to bolt to a bracket on the axle housing. On the 110 the a-frame bolts to a block of steel that is part of the housing. The rear coils on a disco are narrower - same as front 110 coils I think. So you might have to use the disco spring plate on the 110 axle housing.
