    200 TDI cylinder head

Finally found why the low coolant sensor in the Disco goes off after about three days of driving to work. I'd bleed the air off and it would be ok for a few day then go off again. This time I saw the occasional tiny bubble with the thermostat plug removed.
I remember I got it very hot moving back west from Cairns climbing a long steep hill at the back of the Blue Mountains with the boat in tow.It was well and truly in the red witht he warning light flashing. The outfit that rodded the rad in Perth said it was 80% blocked.
So assuming its the head and not the block, where to get one. Paddocks advise they no longer stock them and a 300TDI head doesn't fit.

Does anyone know if heads are still available?

    Thanks

Unfortunately I'd say your about to live every 200Tdi owner's nightmare. I had problems with cooling on my 200Tdi and the place that rebuilt the rad said it was 80% blocked too. Even after the reco rad, the gauge still fluctuated, so I assumed the head needed attention. I knew paddocks had them at the time for 3x 300Tdi prices, but it seems they are a rarity now

Will check all the Perth suppliers tomorrow.

From what i've read a 300tdi head can be made to fit, maybe check some of the UK landy sites.

Not looking good for a new head. A few repaired ones around though I am a bit sus on welded ally heads and reliability.
Quoted $850 today with my head.
Its still a possibility its the block anyway.
Anyone done or researched a engine swap to another diesel in a 93 D1, ie mounted to a LT77 box .
I'd rather not wreck it as thet era of diesel runs ok on bio.
    thanks

Have you actually had the head off? to see what the damage is

our head gasket has just gone on our 90......

the thing filled the cab with smoke when we pulled over it was chuffing like a train out of the oil cap.

took the head off and it was the gasket and some minor damage to the head at no1 and no4 piston where it has leaked

we have a new gasket, and the head is going to get skimmed this weekend then fingers crossed things will be ok!

before we took the head off we thought we had a damaged piston,
Our Land Rover does not leak oil! it just marks its territory.......

No I'm convinced its no the gasket. A while ago it blew the gasket at the back of #4. I had the head plained down by approx 5 thou and refitted it with new head gasket and head bolts. Sweeny and Denny crack checked it at the time and did not find any though the leak rate is very slow so would be very hard to detect.

Not tolerate others? you know me, I love the Chinese
Hav'nt tried West Coast Rover, you never know the cure may be waiting for me. maybe I could install a gas turbine, still be able to use bio and imagine the heads I'd turn on the powerline track.
