According to Clifton Scientific Text Services, the Netherlands the largest tyre you can fit legally therefore is a 245/70-16.

I thought I had better check as I was starting to get carried away by all the options available to me.
To stay within my comfort zone I think I'll go for 245 75 R 16 for the next tyre change.

The FIL went through this recently. In victoria the maximum increase is 15mm which basically is the difference between old and new tyres. VicRoads are looking at implementing the new rule for off-road vehicles which is 50mm.

He wrote a letter to Vicroads explaining the situation, and he got exempted from the rule. It is going to be adopted to bring all the states into line,

What about 255/70 Tyres, I had these on the disco I and they were perfect.

I was talking with the guys at my local 4wd store about tyres and suspension changes and they mentioned that it looks like the NCOP proposal The Australian 4WD Industry Council as got the go ahead nationally and that Qld has been nominated as the State to facilitate this change...

Weren't able to give any time line though.... Anyone goy an update?????

Upshot 50mm+ in tyre diameter, 50mm+ suspension but no more than total 75mm total.

i've always been told rolling dia. has a max of 25mm, and track width 50mm?

Thats the big problem with suspension and tyre changes. There are a lot of people saying a lot of things, and throw into the equation that different states have different rules, and then also throw in the confusion based around the NCOP and even its implementation or lack of - and then considering the ADR's which nobody even seems to have a copy of.

For this stuff... dont believe what you read on forums, and what you do hear - specifically check absolutely every aspect from the roads authorities guidelines. There is way too much misinformation out there and a lot of it is treated as gospel.

Slunnie is right – some tyre outlets will say anything to get a sale.
There’s another thread going here where he can’t get a RWC – and that’s with a brand of tyre that’s commonly pushed as “the one to get”

I didn't think you could get tyres blue plated in Qld, if you know of who will do this could you pass on this info.

I know of some work that could come their way.

Even the Patrols in the club I am in can't run 265/75/16 as it goes over the 15mm. Most Muddies are a 75 profile so it makes life hard.

Or do you just hope you have on the "little tyres" when the cops pull you over or you have a bingle

surely 'tyre shops' would have to be liable for those with whom they sell tyres to stating that they are 'legal', as long as you have documented your dealings with them well. not that one would want it to come to this though...
