These babies do go on a 7" rim I've got 265/75 r16 MTZ's on my defender.

When I got mine I bought 6 tyres with a set of 6 black 7" sunraisier style rims and payed $1800 for the lot from Woonona tyres down near woolongong. It's a bit of a trek from Armidale but might be worth calling them.

    Thanks for all the opinions/advice.

I'll have $3.5-4k to play with and 'need' to get a 2" suspension lift at the very least. Obvioiusly the 'want' list includes a rear locker and the M/T's.

I had a good price for BFG's this morning, but I'm really not sure about that brand at the moment.

the 265/75/16 will rub before getting to full lock as i run this size in a bfg m/t,i am waiting on offset rims to fix these or get my rims flipped unless some one has some they want to sell, before this i had 235/85/16 and was a good size but just a little skinny with the normal gearing,u will need a 2 inch lift with both these sizes on the disco,
    cheers mick

If that is your budget then I think you should price the goodies you are after. Without labour you might get what you are after for $4k at a guesstimate.

Rear ARB locker should be about $1900 fitted, Tyres will be approx $1300 fitted & Suspension approx $800 with me fitting. So pretty much on $4000.

I was thinking of replacing all my suspension bushes with polyurethane as well, a kit from the UK is about $130.

Yes but that is not one of your poll options.
That scenario is missing either the other locker or the diff gears.

Are you getting 5 tyres for $1300? My 245/75 16 Bighorns were about $1200 for 5. So I would have thought 265/75 would be a reasonable amount more especially if you don't get the Maxxis.
235/85 16 Bighorns are actually cheaper than what I got though.

I should have clarified a little, I was getting the suspension done anyway. So I guess total I could spend will be closer to $5k. But it would be nice to have a little left over. Since posting the poll I have been doing a fair bit of research on lockers and I reckon I should be happy with just the rear one for now.

I was just going to get 4 tyres for now and then get another 2 just before the cape trip. I've got nine 30-50% 235/75's sitting around here at the moment, so plenty of spares

I think you are right there. I have just the rear locker and I try not to use it so then I have something in reserve and it makes the drive more fun. However I think the one locker makes a huge difference and the second one would not be so much difference (but then I don't have the 2nd one so what would I know )

It's amazing to be able to try various lines and have nothing work. So you back out, flip on the locker and drive it like it is an easy track

I agree with this. The rear locker makes a big difference, significantly more than what an additional one at the front makes - especially with ETC vehicles.
    Cheers
