My 2001 Manual TD5 appears to have misplaced first gear. It happened as I was attempting to climb my drive about 30mins ago (steep and slippery). The traction control activated and I gave it a few more revs to get to the top. At this point there was a dull thud and then no drive. I thought it had popped out of gear but obviously this is not the case. All other gears OK in both high and low box. Just wondering if anyone has experienced the problem and what the fix involves.

sounds like its torn off the sycnro engagement dogs.... short of the selector cup shattering I dont think its going to be fixable without pulling the box out....
