Well the inside of my RR is spread allover my carport again...no stoplights.
they flash on as you touch the brake pedal but go off as soon as any pressure is applied.
None of the circuit diagrams in the workshop manuals look like what i've actually got in the car, wire colours different ect but they all show basicly a direct circuit from fuse B1 to stoplight switch to stoplights to earth.
Testing the stoplight switch separatly gives continuity across the 2 connections when the pedal is up and nothing when it is depressed. Surely this is ar*e about. Is the switch dead?? Would anyone care to comment. I'm getting pretty tired of being told I need a Pajero. It's getting hard to come up with a smart reply when your car is spread all over the carport for the umpteenth time.![]()
The two Discos I’ve owned both worked the same – don’t know about RRC. The switch (is +) is closed circuit when the pedal pressed down. Open when pedal up.
Have you tried connecting the two contacts (bypassing the switch) to see if the Brake lights are on or off when you turn on the key – this would at least tell you what to expect from the switch. Switch can sometimes do funny things when under load compared to testing with multimeter due to current and heat. If bypassing switch gives you the same result as going through switch then test for shorts (continuity between stop light circuit and anything you can think of) – it may be a tiny short, not strong enough to blow fuse.
