3.9 V8 engine oil cooler lines replacement

OK, I couldn't find my Nikon digital camera so the pics aren't as good as I'd like.

Barbed connector:

The Parker hose (from EnZed - probably the same place the connectors come from) - join the lower text to the top for the full data:

How it is fitted to the Discovery cooler lines that go to the radiator. Note there are no leaks! The hose is just pushed on.

If you were nearby, I'd braze them for you.

Thanks for the pics Ron. I don't have the tools to braze things but once the shops open again I'll get flare nuts and barb connectors to do the same thing.

However the hose I got isn't rated to 400psi. Only 290 psi. Do you think it will be up to it? :p

how easy is it to braze these things on ? might have too do mine soon, also do u think you could use these for the power steering too ?

Brazing them would be fairly simple if you had access to an oxy torch with brazing tip.

Don't know about the power steering lines as I've never looked at them. Can always try.

Are there any brazing torches you can get that run off a single use bottle or something that doesn't require expensive set up and rent of bottles?

May be able to get away with a butane torch and brazing rod. I wouldn't try it with the power steering lines, they would operate under more pressure.

I've got a small butane torch. It only goes to 580 deg C which I though would have been about 100 - 150 deg too little.

From a quick google it seems that the only proper way to do it is the proper twin bottle job. There are some smaller ones but they say they are for solder/brazing which to me sounds like they are just for small scale stuff such as perhaps jewellery making.

You can silver solder with just LPG/butane

There is not much pressure in these lines. 290 psi is no problems.
