    Angry srs fault help

Folks I confess I managed to put a drill through the red/blue wire for the left hand side airbag sensor. Anyway rejoined wire and now the SRS light is still on. When engine running light seems to flash on the dash. I have checked all fuses and they seem fine. I have checked the fuse panel under the dash and the SRS fuse looks fine ( 10amp) I have swapped it with another, still light on. The I'm thinking i have put a fault in the system or managed to blow the sensor any hints on resetting or checking sensor. Or position of any hidden fuses. I have pulled of steering wheel surround but still no luck.

I think you'll find you need to have the system reset with Testbook or similar.

I had the instrment panel out of mine and turned the ignition on. That logged an SRS fault - the system assumed the SRS light on the dash had blown. The system needed a Testbook reset to clear the light.

Regrettably, in NSW, an SRS light that is illuminated is a rego check failure item. You'll be OK in Qld.

Make sure you remove the SRS fuses whilst messing with the wiring. Its possible to send a spike and set the airbags off!!!!!
Can cause a nasty injury, never mind injury to the wallet to replace.
If its a D2,see if anybody local has a nanocom, its a 5 min job to clear the codes/diagnose faults. There is a list of members with diagnostic gear here, some have equipment to suit other Landrovers http://www.aulro.com/afvb/electronic...equipment.html

    landyandy,
i have the srs light on and have had a look in the manual for the fuse location and it states "do not remove", does this just refer to permanent removal I assume.
i did unclip the wires under the seat and reconnected and the srs went off for a few seconds on starting but then comes back on
looks like i may need a reset but any other thoughts appreciated.
    cheers

You will need to have it reset. Its the only way you will get it back off.

    Hi Yorkie
Yes it refers to permanent fuse removal as the airbags wont operate without it.
Do BOTH seats, could be the passenger seat causing the issue.
The SRS light will stop if its the seat connectors once re conected/re-started.The fault will remain "logged"until cleared, but wont cause the SRS light to illuminate, unless the ECU still reads a "current" fault.
