thanks on the tyres!! but what about engine vac

Big thanks to all those that told me about Oymipic. I will be going to the big smoke aka "Brisbane"(I hate the place!!, to much traffic) and getting some other tyers next week. And maybe see a few of the outback wreckers on the way from Emerald. Hope to find a ute cab, without a caved in roof!!!But anyway, on my new 3.5 worked V8, seems to create such an engine vac that it alters the idle after about a few seconds from start, unfortunately all the polution stuff fell in the bin, if I pull the oil fill off it just about stalls. Theres a tiny breather at the back i know, I left that blocked off, thats the trick isn't it?!! Sorry I'm new to land rovers! is there away to balance intake and engine vac? these stronberg carbs are so sensitive!!!

    Hi

Trying to work out your problem
1 ... You just want to hook up the vacuum advance only??
2 ... You are not running a vac hose to a brake booster??
3 ... When you take the oil fill cap off the rocker cover .... It stalls??

Afterthought .... Are you running a "PVC valve & hose" from manifold to rocker cover .. or is it (motor) just venting via snorkel

    thanks

All the hoses are hooked up, to the brake booster, vac advance, and the 2 rocker cover breathers run to the 2 stronbergs, I will admit I'm not running an aircleaner at this point. this could be part of the problem, picking it up from down south next week. The engine runs very well, it just creeps up the rpm a couple of 100 after its been idleling a minute or so, and wont go back down. when I take the oil fill off, it just dumps it back down. It's got some nasty crank case vac!! I've got to go back out to work for a few days, I'll have more of a play with it when I get back with that air cleaner.

I think you only require 1 PVC & hose hook up to the rocker cover
If you have 2 .. then you have twice the amount of airflow through the manifold
    IE ... running lean

Also it should be hooked up to the manifold & not the carbs ??.... Your manifold is a sealed split?? 1 carb feeds left bank ... the other carb feeds right bank ... If so & you have 2 holes in manifold for PVC ... then install 1 PVC & hose & then SPLIT it to both inlet holes

Footnote ... I am not the Guru on your carbed setup ... Just my thoughts only

Have you checked the oil level in the carbys, screw the cap off, it should be 12-13mm/1/2" from the top, Regards Frank.

On the early rover V8 theres 2 breathers come off the rocker covers that go to the carbs, no PCV in ither of them only a flame trap in each.
