Thread: Weeping lift pump... any good as a spare?

If its original then not serviceable, but you can get ones that are, I have one myself, they have a screw on the top, I think its just a diaphram you can replace.
You need to cut the in and outlet pipe to use the nut for the new pump ( they don't come with them ). Old one should be ok for a spare as long as you leave enough pipe when you cut them to get the nuts off it.

Part number? Pics? Place you got it from?

I had a run at finding a repairable lift pump and gave up, I'd love to know more.

Here are a couple of pics of the primer pump, don't know what the part number is I just asked for it and my mechanic ( Paul from Rover Care in Brisbane ) said these are what his suppliers give him, spoke to him and he said that cleaning would be the only thing that could be done to them, still better than nothing.

That looks the same as mine I think there is a filter under that screw on top. mine has some writing on so maybe it might be a part number. I'll just go and check by the way these ones are definately better than the originals.

Looks exactly the same as mine, but I can't read any numbers off it.

Tried a Google search on your part number and got nothing! Not a sausage!

Does anyone know about the serviceability of these pumps?

Pretty sure apart from what is under that screw they are not servicable. If yours is leaking it will probably be from underneath that is were both my previous two original part ones leaked from. the second one fairly poured out fuel when it was running. You will most likely need to replace the pump unless it is either leaking from the connections or if as you said it is the delphi type it is possible that it is leaking thru the fibre washer under that screw on top. Being as though it is on a rover my money would be on a replacement part not a cheap fix.

I'll check the washer and connections (look suss. anyway - no clamps, hard plastic pipes! yuk!)

...then I'll keep an eye on it for a couple of days.
