TD5 D2 throttle pedal and oil change

my pedal seems to have a couple of cm's of 'nothing' in the first part of its travel. it might have always been like this but since i've drowned the car, ive been going over everything to be safe. is this bit of 'dead-zone' normal?

secondly. i think i may have overfilled the engine today during its service(both oil filters too). i put in about 6 litres from my last bottle of diesel5 oil and the dipsick didnt register anything. (after running for about 20secs) i then added 1 litre from a new bottle and still the same. i then put in almost another litre(now about 8 total) and after about 1 min of idling, and then waiting. the level was 3/4 between low and high. 'good enough' i figured.

well after going for a 20km drive tonight and checking the level about 30mins later, the level seems like its all but full, but there is also a rather long trail of fluid that goes waaay up the stick, but only covering half of the width. i hope that makes sense.

    have i overfilled?

All the above sounds pretty normal.

The oil is still possibly running down into the sump, 8 litres is what they take with a filter change.

The Td5 throttle pedal has a bit of a dead area right at the top, but you are the best judge as to whether it is different than before or not...sorry, can't help with that one

thanks justin. the pedal could just be mind over matter. i was just wantig to be sure that i didnt have any issues with the oil. it didint show any foaming on the stick though.

yer,i notice that trail of oil up the dipstick as well, its normal with most cars.what i do is fill it up to the mark,or just over, and then run the engine, keeping an eye on the oil light ,for a few minutes,& then top it up to the full mark.

then i check the level next day after it has been sitting over night, just to be sure.

while doing this i also keep an eye on the amount of oil i use,as justinc has said 8 litres for the td5.

i am real fussy...i change the plug washer every 2nd time, and use a torque wrench on the sump plug, and let the oil run out overnight.

dunno about the accelerator pedal, although it seems to change in low range

    cheers

I drove MickG's Disco td5 the other day and that had a dead area at the top of the travel.

Pete, Didn't that vehicle end up with a 'dead area' all the way to the floor??

-Any more news with that ECU throttle problem?
