They can be jump started, i've had a bit of battery trouble with mine lately and can attest to that. Not sure about tow started? Mines an automatic so assuming not.

Best of luck - they're a great machine!

Jump Starting, should be fine as long as you follow all the right procedures. Use Surge protected jumper leads, allow the two batt's to stabilise before and after starting. I usually keep a jump pack in the car for Justin Case.

Roll Starting, I don't think there were that many manual P38's around, but I can't see why one of these couldn't be roll started. But as far as i'm aware the Auto is a no no. Must also be aware that too tow a P38 the transfer case must be in neutral (insert a fuse into no.11 under seat), or excessive pressure can build up and damage the transmission.

Don't know what the G-Wagon's are like, but you can't think of a P38 as being like a GQ Pootrol or 80 Series they are a different league of vehicle. If you abuse a P38 she will abuse you back even more, where a patrol/LC will be a bit more forgiving.

I've jump started mine without any problems. Whether it could be roll started I'm not sure. If it has a rear oil pump to provide oil pressure it might.

I could on one of my old auto Jags but it didn't have any electronic thing-um-ees.

yeah if the batteries fine and the starters fine you only need to jumpstart...

some autos can be push started but Im fairly confident that no stock landrover has one that can..

Search up my thread on how autos work to find out why if your interested.
