I suspect this is a windup I have driven Rovers for close to 30 years and never broken a diff.
I drove profesionally ex Alice Springs for tour companies in the 80s and beyond I broke many Bedford diffs but never broke a Rover.
If you have broken 18 diffs you really need to ask why? are they all fronts or rears.
Give us some more info I dont doubt that a 2 pinion diff in the rear of a Rangie driven by someone without knowledge or common sense could damage a few diff centres what is often ignored is this problem is not unique to Rover diffs.
Back in 1986 I remember buying a Nissan H260 diff centre (commonly known as the Caball diff) that did the same thing, research showed that the owner liked to drive a lot of the time on 2 wheels.

18 diffs? surely you are either replacing them with paper mache molds ur making or taking the ****. Ive done 2 diff centers n 2 axles in 12 months n i caine the crap out of mine (axles due to previous owner welding the center, one center broke spider gears n one center the nut on the pinion came undone n spat the pinion into the diff on a wiggly road (SCARY))
After a bit of research I decided to go for the toyota diff centers with e lockers with 30 spline axles. still in R&D mode now but ill put a post up for a tutorial when i start on it
read the thread you started maxpower;)
as he has only broken one axle but 18 diffs, im wondering if the diffs are being installed/set up correctly?
yes he did admit to abusing it a bit, but it doesnt take much to break rover diffs/axles/cv/s....
if you upgrade go either jacmac or arb with Hi Tough Engineering axles

ps going to 24 spline oem axles might not be any better than the 10's
Perhaps landing a spinning wheel will break an axle, but landing both rears or driving them into steps etc will break the diff as both axles load the diff up instead of one.
