Philip A alternator update
We made it to Darwin running on the old Ingram. It was sold to me as an 85 amp but I have always suspected it is only 65, and it struggled a bit to raise the volts with aircon on.
I asked the local workshop in the street the caravan park is in "Hidden Valley Road" where to buy a new regulator. He directed me to Independent Parts Wholesalers who are owned by Repco. Took the punt and bought a regulator for $54, fitted it outside the shop, and SUCCESS.
So we are back in business fully, and I need all the power I can get as the fridge struggles in 36-38 c.
So I guess my policy of getting a local alternator worked. Imagine the look if I asked for a Magneto Marelli part. As it was he said he didn't have a Magna one but would a Commodore one do? Yessir!
Regards Philip A
