    Coughing D2 V8

My 01 D2 V8 has a nasty cough, once it warms right up and has been driven for about 30 mins it starts to cough quite badly. (Did this before other issues in other thread).

It does it on LPG and petrol no change at all.

Any suggestions about what i could have a quick look at. I wouldn't mind having a shot at fixing this myself. (Famous last words)

It was serviced 3400k ago but has since done a fair bit of off road work and a long trip. No water crossings or anything though!

    Hi.

    Serviced or tuned?

My start list would be timing, plugs, leads, filters and then see how it is.

If any of these things were done during the 'service' then take it back.

Probably just oil and filters! Don't have a D2 service schedule on me.

Sounds like it needs a tune-up.

I seem to recall that 80k is a big one. Tranny and stuff.!

Feels like an electrical short. I will check all the leads but since there is no single high tension cable to a coil or distributor, well I am fresh out of ideas.

Sounds feasible. Have you got Gas leads and plugs?

A mate has an old F-250 Ambo. he put on gas. Ran like a charm for a while then started coughing and carrying on. Put higher temp. plugs in and 12mm Stainless Steel trace leads on and the thing screams. No problems at all. No further adjustment

Quality leads and higher temp.(for gas use) plugs can make a HUGE difference.
