Just trying to dig out a photo... But from memory there is a lug on the chassis that accepts the 6mm damper stud.
Oops... Just read the post again... The Defender has a chassis lug. Not sure about a rangie...
I am going to put the steering damper for the Rangie on the front steering rod like the Defenders have it. I have bracket from a Defender which screws onto the end of the steering rod. This takes one end of the damper but where does the other end go?
If anyone has a photo it would be great.
Thanks

Rangie has no lug or bracket for this but you can buy one or make your own its not hard to do and all you need is a bit of 6mm flat bar and 2 bolts as the holes are allready in the chasis ....
Ive made up H/D steering arms and insted of using the defer eye on the steerbox end i made up a bracket which clamps onto the 32mm od steer rods tho i dont have any pics of my set up ....
When you lift the Rangie the diff rolls forward and the steering damper is out of the way.
I have had my swivels machined which corrects the caster angle but the problem with this is that it rolls the diff back to the correct place and the steering damper is then more easily hit. I went through 3 steering dampers in just a short period of time.
I thought it was about time I fixed this problem and the best way I could see was to change the location of the damper.
As for the steering gear, I use a HD track rod at the back but I have always opted to use the standard drag link. My thoughts are that I would rather the drag link bend than to stuff the steering box. I just always carry a spare drag link.
Lokka, if you have a pic of the bracket for the chassis it would be great.
thanks
the kits i made and sold were made out of 50x8fms, 6mm is a tad to thin for me.
if i were to do it again ide just cut up some RHS and weld it to the chassis like the OE defer one.
