Now that would help an LS1 conversion to a P38A!![]()
Anyone here tried or know of someone using a compushift trans ECU?
I have thought of using one with a 4HP24EH out of the HSE vehicle, IE no factory ECU available. I am going for the EH so I can utilise the selectable lockup function etc.
Any feedback from a actual user would be helpful, IE what it is like to set up in the real world etc...
Ashcrofts have a good speel about them, and they certainly seem popular.
Thanks,
JC

Actually, it smells like another Isuzu 4BD1 turbo auto conversion Ron...
Much as I love the LT95, I have had a good offer for it and providing they come up with the $$$ I'll go back to an auto.

You betcha, it would make it possible to do just about any conversion into a 38A. Thats where i've hit the wall. They just don't seem to have an ECU suitable for a 4HP24E, I guess I could always ask.Now that would help an LS1 conversion to a P38A!
Hate to think what they're worth though!

Justin,
It may be worth psoting a thread on www.devon4x4.com
I think there are a few guys on there using them, but their names I cannot remember!
Rgds
Pete.
Thanks Pete, I'll do that!.
I just spoke to MR automotive, and Warren there has one in his Td5 auto 130. He is very impressed with its operation and ease of fitment. I didn't ask him what it cost, but I think Ashcrofts quote 750Quid or thereabouts, about $1300 to $1400 of our coins.
I'll be looking further into this, I really miss my auto!!!

My old man has one in his Humvee. He loves it. I will try and get him to post up with his thoughts. But he won't be back online till Sunday night.

Hi
Peter here Thomas' dad.
I've had a Compushift in my Humvee for a couple of years now looking after a 4L80E which replaced a TH400.
It has been very reliable with no problems in just under 30,000 kms which have included two hard Simpson Desert trips, one across the Madigan line and the second this year to the Geographical Centre of the Simpson. Both were approx 800k most of it across country.
The compushift is very easy to setup using the display head, no laptop or PC required. On the 4L80E it even has "paddle" shift buttons which allow quick changes and lock it in the selected gear until the accelerator is lifted.
The display also gives lots of info including trans temp, pressures, throttle etc etc.
It only needed two sensors for the 4L80E, a TPS and TOSS, the software does the rest and it does it very well, smooth changes etc.
You can download the manual from the compushift site if you want to read up on it.
Mike the owner/developer is very helpful with any queries and is very knowledgeable on the transmissions themselves.
In my case it plugged straight into the main socket on the side of the trans, various leads and connectors in the kit matched up to the TPS and TOSS, connected 12v and it has run perfectly ever since.
any questions ask away, happy to help.
I bought mine from PATCO and you can also buy them direct from Compushift themselves, much cheaper than the Aussie ditributor ;-))

Thankyou Peter, that information is invaluable. My chief concern was for reliability, and you have obviously used your vehicle in the sort of environments I am concerned about with no ill effects.
I have a good price from Ashcrofts in the UK for a compushift and associated bits, but will also check out PATCO and Compushift themselves.
Again, thanks for your info
