    defender bonnet stay

    Hi All,
I have read previous threads and have found the solution to the bonnet stay getting unstuck, I think it was Justin who suggested placing more washers on the mount and also a spring. Tried the washers but still no luck, Please could someone explain where the spring should go and also what type of spring is used.
    Thanks
    Malcolm

I removed mine... and now just use the jack handle as a stay
One day I may put in some Uber Bling struts... but till then its the jack handle for checking fluids, or off with the bonnet if actually doing any work?

It is a reall bugger when it gets jammed up.

if you mean the foldy one on an older rover the spring is supposed to go over a washer with a split pin to sort of maintain alignment of the lower half of the prop.

If your having problems with a foldy prop its usually related to the pin bending out of whack and this can be fixed by removing the bracket, welding the pin back in straight and then reassembling.

there is also the chance that the upper arm has bent and there is a perentie wide mod to sort the bonnet prop out. I can get you pics of the perentie prop if you like.

You need struts off a P38, If you have ever lifted the bonnet off one, you would know why.
