    defender 200tdi ignition's

im 16 and i hav a 1994 200tdi defender and i was wondering does anyone know wat the problem could be with my ignition or is it somthing else? well ill start at the very begining a few months ago i was driving along a backstreet and all of a sudden everything went dead egine and all! so i pulled over and started her up again and everything was good as gold but then after that every now and then wen u went to start her up she would kick over and then it would turn staright back off felt like the key was klicking back itself! after doing this every now and then we thought it must hav been the key was worn and therfore was causing the problem so we started to use the other key and she was as good as gold once again but then she started the same old tricks again untill every time u hoped in she would turn her self straight back off then the other day was ready to go fishing turned her of for a few mins and went to start her back up again and she didnt show any lights on the dash (glow light , oil etc etc) (luckly this is on the footpath out the front of my house) so u turn the key and its like the ignition switch isnt staying in position and make the key click back to the off position or somthing worng with the whole switch but wat i dont understand is if u hold the key over a relay thing down in the fuse box makes a sound wich i asume means its working and the starter motor turns the engine but the engine doesnt start and then when u let go of the key everything stops.

so if anyone would like to talk about what they know about this subject im willing to listen
    thanks!

Check the earths, 1 chassis, 1 engine and 1 body at least and then look at your fuel shut off solonoid on the injector pump.

Im not sure what it's like on the 200Tdi but I would say that is your problem if not the ignition switch itself.....not the lock the switch.
