Damn it, our Disco has incontinence!

    Hi folks

the wife's TD5 is suffering from incontinence (better the Disco than her I guess), anyway with a bit of investigation and with the help of the past postings in this wonderful forum, I have found the fuel pressure regulator is the culprit.

First of all, for those of you like me who had a go at taking it off, and kept hitting a brick wall trying to get to that bottom bolt, I found an excellent pictorial instruction on an overseas forum: Have a look here: TD5 Disco fuel pressure regulator - LR4x4 - The Land Rover Forum

Secondly, I read a lot of people talking about having to replace it for over $300... is this really a non-servicable item? Is there no way of simply replacing the o-rings and gaskets, and perhaps the clip-in regulator?

Thirdly, any SA people out there recommend a good landy mechanic? I know of Len's, and have just found Lan Serv on yellow pages... have also heard of a guy at Camden park who is supposed to be good. Would appreciate any feedback.

Is this something that can be considered s/hand

Is it worth considering a second hand unit from a low miles vehicle? We have triumph rover spares here in SA ... or is it likely that I am buying something with an already shortened life?

I did mine awhile back it is tricky but one other thing to mention it is a good idea to clean around the area before removing the regulator,
remove the cover then go to the local car wash and give it a blast.

With the tight tolarences that the injectors run any small dirt particles will not do them any good.
