    Crunching noise

Hello took my 1.5 tonne boat out yesterday and on the way home while going around right hand corners there was a crunching sound coming from some where on Disco 96 tdi.

my question is what could be making that noise ?
How do I check to find it?

Also took it for a spin with out the boat on the back and could not get it to do it.

I used low range to get up the boat ramp could the transfer case not have been selected proplerly?
I ask this as I took it in and out of low and high once home and then took it for a spin.

any help in this area would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks Ralph.

It's hard to diagnose something like this but I would start by looking at your CV joints in the front axle. The first thing I would check is whether there is any oil in the swivels. If yes have a look at it by dropping a little out of the bottom drain ( if it has oil), and see if there are silver bits in it.

It could also be just that a rock has been caught in one of the guards of the front or rear discs.
