    TD5 AFM replaced

    Hi Guys
I think I have finally fixed the terrible turbo lag and hopefully the drinking problem BlackBetty has
Just fitted a new AFM.Instant improvement in driveability. Can actually get the TC to cut in in first second and third on the gravel, wouldnt do it on the same track before swaping them over. She now easily gets to the rev limiter in 1st 2nd and 3rd where as before 4000rpm she was getting a tad out of breath.
Hopefully this power increase leads to better fuel economy,I dont normally thrash her like I just have.
    HAPPY CHAPPY

The one on the air intake hose, next to the airfilter.
Well worth trying if you are getting poor performance.Hopefully it also fixes the poor economy, will report once I put a tankfull thru her.

fingers crossed for you andy... mines still a little temperamental!

when its running.. can you see how much your wastegate is opened? mine seems to be sitting at around 16% at 90-100k's but always 16%... until you drop off the throttle

    Thanks

How are you working it out Steve??? via the boost displayed on Nanocom???
If so I dont think we can compare values as an auto and manual are totally different animals.
Got to go to Perth for the day for a conference on thursday, see how she goes with normal driving compared to the test thrashing.
Really looking forward to seeing the ks on the next tank.

yes mate there is a wastegate section that reads percentage.. they should be similar on lockup as a manual i would of thought.. ? im talking at freeway speeds so convertor is fully locked. sometimes it just runs like a right dog!

Let us know how you go with it... be good to hear some good news about it

If the AFM is the Mass Air Flow sensor, it's definitely one of the things to replace on a V8 if the fuel economy starts heading south. For such a critical piece of monitoring, I wonder why LR don't have a warning light when this devices starts to fall outside it's normal operating parameters.

You can fit a totally dead MAF to a V8, and it will idle rough, have no power yet there's no warning lights....
