The thing that is commonly done to suit Macnamara 30 spline axles for Tojo conversions, I've done personally for 9" rears with 31 spline axles and maxi rear ends and the above Tojo conversions, Ummmmm, yep, that's exactly what I'm saying, well done Sherlock

The fitting of 35" tyres adds more unsprung wieght and stress to spindles, wheel bearings, bushes, trailing arms, radius arms..............etc, than 30thou removed from the bore of a spindle will ever create

How about a little detail on yourself, vehicles you've played with?

To quote yourself "WTF is your point". Are you saying it is safe to do with 35 inch tyres. Or are you saying that 35 inch tyres put a large amount of extra stress on the stub axles and you shouldn't do it. Or are you saying that even though larger tyres, etc put more stress on the stub axles than it was designed for, it is a good thing to reduce their strength.

    Don;t answer a question with a question

If you break one of my stubs bored to suit any of the above axle combinations, well done, because I can't

So, what are you argueing about now? seems I'm backing up alot of things I've done, how about yourself?.............pics or

I like the idea of boring the long side. Earlier in the year we (ie not me) snapped a maxi long side and it was such a pita to get the axle out compared to the short side because of the locking splines.

Another option that I have done mostly cos I travel bush with a trailer running landie hubs is I have the trailer drive flanges broached out so they are smooth with no splines at all.

If I need to disengage the rear axle, I can swap the trailer flanges over to the rear axle.

Everything sealed up, no cable ties required. You could always carry one such flange and just pull the short? This also means the maxi locking dog isnt let off the chain so to speak

Just thought I'd check, as the locking dog spline is on the short side axle in a rover rear centre

Its alright, I'm only up and active, due to the 4 wild turkeys stubbies, 4 southern comfort stubbies and a couple of carlton draughts and need to Chillax after fighting with an EL Falcoon for the past 4 days, it goes again, blocked Cat, then the coil packed up when I did a service...........found that out after I changed EVERYTHING, includeing Dizzy

And 5 whole days on DC earth faults at work, fixed that now but to

Wait till the wife knocks off work and my night may get better yet......................(where's that seedy smiley emoticon?)
